Who has helped?

Classroom Teachers: Many Newton teachers have opened their classrooms, juggled their schedules, and freed up time for small groups of students. Over the past seven years, they have offered suggestions and support even when the road ahead was shrouded in fog. Special thanks go to three fifth grade teachers who were there at the beginning: Joan Yospin, Dianna Kanter, and Kathy Adams.

The Newton Schools Foundation: Money from an NSF grant paid for the computers and networking equipment that made the first version of this project possible. Although it was premature to use the technology of the time (Hypercard and Appletalk over cable lines), the experience working with students made later versions possible.

The Developers of Free Open Source Software: Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP provided opportunities that would have been impossibly expensive had this project needed to rely on commercial software. In addition Boogie Jack's Web Depot provided the left borders on two pages, along with much inspiration and instruction about graphics techniques.

Applewood Books in Bedford, MA: Applewood Books has provided a high speed internet connection for the past 4 1/2 years, helping with the configuring and reconfiguring through power outages and changes in their service providers.
