  • Warriors Field GuideSecrets of the Clans by Erin Hunter (reviewed Jun 8, 2007)

5 This book is awesome! What it is really, is that it is an encyclopedia for the Warriors books. It has illustrations on some of the cats, stuff we always wondered. It tells you all the fighting moves, all the significant leaders and medicine cats from all the clans, and all the legends. It even includes illustrations of some of the cats! It's not the greatest good story read, but it's a great book for the curious Warriors fan. Fold-out maps of territory from the warrior and twoleg view are also included. It's a great source for everything Warriors, and some of the stories include Brightheart on the death of Swiftpaw, Yellowfang on Brokenstar, and much much more! If you're a Warriors fan who's always curious about what's happened that's not in the books, this is the perfect book for you!

  • The Sight: Warriors, Power of Three; Book 1 by Edith Fisher Hunter (reviewed May 17, 2007)

5 WARNING! DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT READ ALL THE PREVIOUS BOOKS! IT CONTAINS NO SPOILERS FOR THIS BOOK, BUT SPOILERS FOR PAST BOOKS
We once again meet up with ThunderClan, but it is around 8 moons later, and we have new characters. This time, it is the children of loyal warriors Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw; Jaypaw, Hollypaw, and Lionpaw. Jaypaw is a blind cat with a special power, Hollypaw badly wants to be Medicine cat, and Lionpaw is the one we learn least about but is a great hunter.
Firestar, the great leader of ThunderClan, has gotten a prophecy; "There will be three, kin of your kin, with the power of the stars in their paws." Squirrelflight is the daughter of Firestar, making the apprentices possibly the three of the prophecy. Also, the four clans are coming more and more against non-clanborn cats, and ShadowClan is threatening to take away ThunderClan territory for having so much kittypet/loner blood in the clan. Are Hollypaw, Lionpaw, and Jaypaw the three in the prophecy? Does Graystripe finally come back? Find out the answers to these burning questions in this awesome book that has non-stop action, interesting characters and more!
This is a great read for people who have read the series. I would also recommend the series to people who love animal fantasy, or just like cats.

  • Stowaway by Karen Hesse (reviewed May 11, 2007)

4 Stowaway is a book about Nicholas Young, a stowaway on board the H.M.S. Endeavour. He is running away from his family situation, and many of the seamen had discovered him and kept him hidden. Not long later, Nick becomes part of the ship's crew. This story is one of many emotions; it is filled with happiness, and sorrow. It is an interesting tale, although it is rather boring at parts. It is good realistic fiction (and I'm going kind of far to say it, as I'm not a fan of realistic fiction). This is a tale that is sure to have you thinking about back in that time and if you were aboard the ship.

My favorite characters are very minor characters, Smoke and Ginger Bigfoot, the ship's cats. Don't ask me why, but I'm a kitty fan.

There is every emotion in this book, and it is sure to give anybody some thought. Overall, something realistic fiction readers shouldn't miss.

  • The BFG by Roald Dahl (reviewed May 4, 2007)

4 The BFG is a humorous book about the BFG (Big Friendly Giant) and Sophie, a little human being (Human Beans, as the giants call them). Anyway, one night the BFG approaches Sophie and takes her back to Giant Country with him. There, they eat disgusting Snozzcumbers, drink wonderful fizzy Frobscottle, make a few whizpoppers, and meet the other bloodthirsty giants who sneak out every night to eat some "Human Beans". However, the BFG is different. Instead of collecting "human beans" to eat, he collects dreams which he blows into sleeping children. But when the other giants are going to England to eat the English children, it's up to the BFG and Sophie to stop them. Will they be stopped? Or is Sophie going to end up as a meal herself? Will the BFG still have to eat yucky Snozzcumbers? Find out in this weird, but funny book.

  • Secret identity - Shredderman #1 by Wendelin Van Draanen (reviewed Mar 23, 2007)

4 This is a book that I, a semi-nerd, could really connect to. Nolan is a smart kid, but he has a problem with the school bully, Bubba. So one day, when there's an assignment to do a report about anybody in town, Nolan chooses to do his on Bubba. Later, on a math test, he finds that he got 100%, and his teacher wrote, "Nolan, you shred, man!" Later, at Nolan's house, he thinks, "Why not post the whole report online?" So he tries some web addresses. One was taken, one was boring, but he finally opens up his anti-Bubba site, Shredderman.com. Nolan makes some confetti with the web address on it and spreads it around the school. Pretty soon, shredderman.com is a huge hit, but then Bubba finds it. What will happen to the site? Will it crash? Read the book to find out!

  • Love That Dog by Sharon Creech (reviewed Mar 23, 2007)

3 This is a charming tale about a boy who is studying poetry, and at first refuses to do any because he thinks poetry is for girls. Later on, they read some poems and he starts understanding them, and connecting them to himself, like a yellow dog poem, which reminds him of his yellow dog. In the book he learns many things, and even meets a poet one of his poems was based on. This is a good book for anybody who is in the mood for a story that's a little sad and sweet at the same time. Lots of people should read this story about a boy, his teacher, and his dead dog Sky. Even I liked it, and I'm a cat person, not a dog person! Love that dog is a good short read if you need a book.

  • Eldest by Christopher Paolini (reviewed Mar 23, 2007)

4 Eldest is the sequel to Eragon, and a quite good book by itself. The only flaws with this book for me were that there wasn't as much of constant action as the first one, and at some times for me, it actually got quite boring. But here's the plot: After killing Durza, Eragon goes with Arya to Elesmera, the land of the elves for more training in the ways of becoming a rider. There, he finds out he is not the only existing rider opposing the shades, he meets Oromis and his dragon Glaeder, and he starts training with them in the ways of magic in the ancient language, and with someone else for sword fights. Meanwhile, Carvahall is being invaded by Ra'zac, and Roran is helping to fight them off with his mighty hammer, when Katrina, his love is taken away by the Ra'zac. What will happen to Eragon and Roran? Read Eldest to find out!

  • Flyte (Septimus Heap; Book 2) by Angie Sage (reviewed Mar 16, 2007)

5 This is the second book in the Septimus Heap series. This book is like one year after Magyk ends. So, Septimus is enjoying his life as the Extra Ordinary Wizard's apprentice, except for the fact that Marcia has a sinister Shadow looking over her. When he visits his mother and older brother Simon, Simon takes Jenna away on his horse. Septimus has this great feeling that Jenna was kidnapped by Simon, so he sets off to find her again. When he finds her, he finds his brother has gotten hold of the rare Flyte charm. Later, his special stone from Jenna hatches into a baby dragon, which he names Spit Fyre. Will Jenna and Septimus stay safe from Simon? What will happen with Marcia's shadow? And what about Spit Fyre? All the answers to these questions and more, when you read Flyte.
Crazy Pikachu's note- Better than the first book, and a very good book for those who are hooked on magykal fantasy. Have a Magykal time reading Flyte! I really liked this book, and I hope you enjoy it too!

  • Firewing by Kenneth Oppel (reviewed Mar 13, 2007)

5 This book, unlike the others in this series, is not mainly about Shade. It's about his and and Marina's son, Griffin. Griffin come up with the idea to not migrate, and stay in Tree Haven. But he needed fire, and accidentally burned his friend Luna. After an earthquake, a fissure brings Griffin down, and Shade goes after him. It turns out this led them to the underworld, and Griffin and Shade are now in a place full of dead bats, and the only way to get to the Upper World is through the Tree. The Tree is no ordinary tree, it is the route to the upper world for living bats in the underworld, and it looks like it's being burned up by flames even though the flames are really part of the tree. Will Shade and Griffin and Griffin's friend Luna who is now dead, ever make it to the Upper World again? Read this book to find out! Not all the bats I listed make it up, just two of them, but the third one makes it up in some other way.

  • The People of Sparks by Jeanne DuPrau (reviewed Mar 10, 2007)

4 This is the sequel to The City of Ember, and it starts off right where Ember left off. Lina and Doon have reached the Land of Sparks, and soon everybody from Ember follows. Sparks is a place that seems very nice at first, but then for no reason, the natives to Sparks start getting very mean to the Emberites. Meanwhile, Lina goes off with a person who's looking for treasure in an ancient city, only to find out that the real treasure was the Emberites. Soon she comes back, and finds that Ember and Sparks are in the middle of a war. Will she and Doon be able to make peace between them? Remember to read People of Sparks to find out! Not as strong as the first book, but it's still a good read. I would still recommend it, but only to people who read the first book.

  • The Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis (reviewed Mar 10, 2007)

5 Meet the weird Watsons- Teenage Byron, who's an official juvenile delinquent and also known as By and "Daddy Cool", ten-year-old Kenny, who is the narrator of the story and has a lazy eye, kindergartener Joetta, also known as Joey, who will believe almost anything Byron says. There's also the parents, Wilona and Daniel Watson, who are also somewhat weird. So the thing goes like this. They live a life that's really funny with all of Byron's latest adventures (Captain Byron Watson and his Flamethrower of Death, The Lipless Wonder). But then they decide to go to Birmingham, Alabama, to their Grandma Sands' house, and Kenny experiences the "Wool Pooh" and one more thing which would be a huge spoiler. I recommend you read this book because it's laugh-out-loud funny. Also, this book can be serious, so don't think it's all funny. It is one of the best historical or realistic fiction books I have ever read. (I'm a fantasy person.) This book is great and almost anybody would enjoy it!

  • The Wish by Gail Carson Levine (reviewed Feb 23, 2007)

4 This book is about Wilma, who is very unpopular. One day, an old woman gives her a wish, which she uses to be the most popular person at Claverford, her school. Pretty soon her enemies are trying to get on her good side, the kids who ignored her are her best friends, and like 40 boys want to take her to the Grad Night Dance. Wilma is enjoying her new-found popularity, when she finds a loophole in her wish. She wished for popularity in her school, and she's graduating in not too long! Will she keep her popularity even after she graduates? Read this book to find out. I recommend this book to girls, but boys can read it too. Overall, it's a good book, not great, but still good.

  • Sunwing by Kenneth Oppel (reviewed Feb 23, 2007)

5 Sunwing continues on right where Silverwing left off, in Hibernaculum. Shade is going on a journey to find his long thought to be dead father, Cassiel, who the mystical albino bat Zephyr said was alive. Pretty soon, Shade and Marina and the rest of the Silverwing colony are in this place filled with bats called 'Paradise'. It turns out Cassiel is not there. Pretty soon, Shade escapes and meets up with some of the other bats who were taken away from paradise. They were all banded and had explosives in their throats, so that when they land, well
    BOOM!
So, Shade gets his off. Meanwhile, the infamous Goth goes back to the home of the cannibal bats and learns about the upcoming solar eclipse. He learns he could use it to make Cama Zotz more powerful than Nocturna. So when Shade hears this, he has no choice but to SAVE THE SUN. Will Shade save the sun? Read this book to find out!

  • The Miserable Mill - Series of Unfortunate Events 4 by Lemony Snicket (reviewed Feb 19, 2007)

5 In this book, the Baudelaires are going to a mill where there's a tiny library, and the only food you get is gum. There's also an strange optician and her assistant, Shirley. The optician performs hypnotism on Klaus. What is all this? You're all wondering. How will the Baudelaires survive is another big question. And everybody knows Count Olaf has some big disguise. Who is Count Olaf in this book? Be sure to read books 1, 2, and 3 before this one, but this is a quite good series (although in a totally different league than Warriors). This is a good book, although not one of the best in the series. I would still suggest you read it, however. Also, people are wondering: What's the big hypnotism deal? Read and find out!

  • Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (reviewed Feb 16, 2007)

5 This book is about Ender Wiggin, a genius and a child. There are these alien like things called buggers which come to Earth in invasions. People think Ender is just the person to command the third invasion. But this book really starts to be interesting when Ender is drafted for Battleschool. He proves to be a genius of geniuses in his launch, and is great at simulated games, including one called Giant's Drink, which is very mysterious. Ender comes straight from launchy to soldier in the Salamander Army. He goes to Rat and Phoenix army too, and commands the Dragon Army. He then graduates and goes to Command school. What will happen to Ender? Will he fight the Buggers? Read this book to find out!

  • The Wide Window - Series of Unfortunate Events 3 by Lemony Snicket (reviewed Feb 2, 2007)

5 In this book, the Baudelaire orphans are going to their
Aunt Josephine's place. Again, they have no idea who this person is even though they're related to them. It turns out, Aunt Josephine is kind of weird and has many weird fears. Also, she's afraid of Lake Lachrymose (the lake she lives on), but she doesn't want to move because she's afraid of realtors. One day at the market, they meet a captain called Captain Sham. Who really is Count Olaf. This is an entertaining book and it's really good. Also if you're the type who likes bloodthirsty leeches and suicide notes which turn out to be codes, this book's for you. But you shouldn't read this book until you've read The Bad Beginning and The Reptile Room.

  • The Tale of Despereaux: Being the Story of a Mouse, a Princess, Some Soup, and a Spool of Thread by Kate DiCamillo (reviewed Jan 26, 2007)

5 This is a good book. Unlike my best friend Animal crossing, I like this book. It starts out when Despereaux is born, a mouse that was actually born with his eyes open. He has huge ears too. And unlike the other mice, he can read! One day, he hears the king playing music to his daughter, Princess Pea, who Despereaux falls in love with. The mice have a meeting about this, and decide to put Despereaux into the dungeon. There, he meets Roscuro, a rat unlike other rats who actually wanted to see the light and also "killed" the queen. There's also Miggery Sow, a girl who was traded to a horrible master and now works as a palace servant. Be sure to read this book! It sure deserved that Newbery Medal it got!

  • Midnight for Charlie Bone by Jenny Nimmo (reviewed Jan 20, 2007)

1 I once tried this book, but it bored me really soon. Maybe I didn't get far enough into it, but I never got to a part that sparked my interest. I mean all it's about is a boy who learns he can see things move in pictures. A really boring concept. Maybe it's supposed to be a spin-off of Harry Potter, but with mind magic instead of wands. If it is, it's a bad one. So many people like this series, but I don't know why. Warriors beats this by infinity amounts. I recommend you completely skip this book! It's a waste of time you could use reading the best series on planet earth, Warriors! A somewhat violent series about cats beats this any day!

  • Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel (reviewed Jan 18, 2007)

5 Silverwing starts out with Shade, a young Silverwing bat. He is the runt of the colony and the other young bats make fun of him. He tries to go to see the sun, and instead an owl almost gets him. When he comes back, the oldest elder Frieda shows him the place in Tree Haven where the stories they sing echo. She also tells him about Nocturna's promise. Pretty soon, he gets lost in a storm on the way to the place where they hibernate. He meets up with a banded Brightwing bat called Marina, who will help him get back. There's also Zephyr, an albino bat with strange powers, and Goth, the cannibal vampire bat. What will happen to Shade? And what are the bands exactly? Read Silverwing to find out! This is a wonderful animal fantasy. I would recommend this to anybody.

  • Warriors, the New Prophecy - Series by Erin Hunter (reviewed Jan 14, 2007)

5 This series is even better than the original series! So, this series all starts out with Brambleclaw of ThunderClan receiving a prophecy about danger to the forest and that he is one of four chosen cats. He quickly learns his sister Tawnypelt is also one of the chosen. The other two are Crowpaw and Feathertail. Squirrelpaw and Stormfur also come on the journey. They meet a badger called Midnight who tells them the forest will be destroyed. That all happened in Midnight. Moonrise: The chosen cats come across a tribe of cats called The Tribe of Rushing Water. Meanwhile, back in the forest the clans are suffering the damage of Twolegs wrecking the forest. Dawn: The questing cats return, to find a damaged forest. They tell every cat that they must move to a new territory, and so the last third of the book is the journey to the new territory. Starlight: The clans have found the territory StarClan wanted them to find, and the clans are settling in but there's still lots of tension between the clans. Twilight: to me, Twilight was a little too much of a romance book. One of the worst in the series. Sunset: One of the best warriors books ever! The clans are still getting used to the new home, but there is a cat who has bad ambitions. This is where the second prophecy in the new prophecy takes place. Before there is peace, blood will spill blood, and the lake will run red. This is a must-read, but only if you've finished the first books. Don't miss on any Warriors books!

  • Warriors - Series by Erin Hunter (reviewed Jan 12, 2007)

5 These are great books and I recommend these books to anyone! This series follows Rusty, a kittypet who joins ThunderClan. He earns his apprentice name of Firepaw, becomes a warrior with the name of Fireheart, and becomes deputy. He even becomes Firestar, leader of ThunderClan! The series is focused on Firestar, but he isn't the only character. There's Graystripe, his best friend, Sandstorm, his love, Bluestar, his leader from before he was leader, and the notorious Tigerstar. These books are the second best series (Only second to Warriors the new prophecy.) My favorite book in the series is The Darkest Hour, because of the thrilling way it ends. Into the Wild is close because it's the one that got me into warriors. No matter which book you're reading, WARRIORS ROCKS!

  • Eragon by Christopher Paolini (reviewed Jan 10, 2007)

5 Eragon is a boy who comes from a small town called Carvahall. One day in a mountain range he finds a mysterious blue stone, which hatches into a dragon that he names Saphira. He wants to keep Saphira a secret from his family, so he runs away with the village storyteller Brom who, weirdly, knows a lot about dragons because he was once a dragon rider and his dragon was also called Saphira and she died. Also as a dragon rider, he has to take a big part in killing the evil Galbatorix's army. What will happen to him and Saphira? Read this book to find out! A great read for anybody, and I want to see the movie even though I heard people comparing it to the book and saying it wasn't that good.

  • The American Girls Collection - Series by Pleasant Company (reviewed Jan 9, 2007)

1 I used to absolutely love these books when I was like in first grade. Now, these books are really way too easy and I could get the same amount of information about these girls' time by reading other books. There are eight sets of them, six books in a set for every American Girl. There is no best set, as they all stink. Call me crazy if you think I'm taking this way too hard. If you really want to read them, go ahead. Don't be fooled by these books! They're perfect for second graders, but I am too old for them. I like good series these days, like Warriors.

  • The Mayor of Central Park by Brian Floca (reviewed Jan 6, 2007)

4 In Central Park, there is a squirrel called Oscar Westerwit. He is no ordinary squirrel, as he is mayor of Central Park and the manager and shortstop for their team, the Central Park Green Sox. However, one day his star pitcher Arty Bigalow goes missing, and he has to call off many games. Then a rat called Duds decides to take over the park and make it a place for rats. His daughter Maud, however, runs away and finds a job as a nurse for an old goat. Meanwhile, Oscar is back at Central Park and Duds and the other rats are driving every other animal from their homes. So Oscar organizes a battle against the rats. And he meets Maud at the Mole Cafe and he finds he has a crush on her, a rat! What will happen to Oscar and Maud? Read this cute book to find out!

  • Sunset (Warriors, the New Prophecy #6) by Edith Fisher Hunter (reviewed Dec 24, 2006)

5 Warriors is back, and still going strong with this final installment in the New Prophecy. In the prologue, Tigerstar is talking to Darkstripe in the opposite of Starclan for warriors who are evil or don't follow the warrior code about his plan for Hawkfrost and Brambleclaw. Meanwhile, back at ThunderClan they are recovering from the badger attack when Stormfur and Brook show up. They are there to make sure the clans got settled in the newplace They are also there to join RiverClan permanently. Sorreltail's kits are given names, Molekit, Honeykit, Poppykit, and (guess what?) Cinderkit. Mothwing has taken Willowkit as Willowpaw, her apprentice. But how can she learn about the StarClan part of a medicine cat's duties with a mentor who doesn't believe in StarClan? How does she learn? How come when Leafpool became official medicine cat of ThunderClan she didn't see Cinderpelt in the ranks of StarClan? What is Tigerstar's plan for Hawkfrost and Brambleclaw? Read Sunset to find out! I have waited for this for about two months, and it is worth it! Another great book in the Warriors series!

  • The End - Series of Unfortunate Events 13 by Lemony Snicket (reviewed Dec 23, 2006)

5 This is the last book in this unfortunate series, and this time the Baudelaires are stranded on an island with guess who? If you guessed Count Olaf, you're right! The Island is extremely boring, and after a storm, the people go out on a storm search and find objects. Most of them turn out to be thrown into the arboretum. What will happen? If you like books with secret storage places, villains who pretend to be nice, and apples mixed with horseradish, this is the book for you. I was sad to let the series go, but this is a good conclusion even though it leaves you on a cliffhanger. A happy part of this book is that Count Olaf finally dies.

  • Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism by Georgia Byng (reviewed Dec 21, 2006)

5 Molly Moon lives in dreary Hardwick House orphanage, with evil Miss Adderstone running the orphanage. She is always teased and punished and only has one friend, Rocky. One day in the library she finds a book about hypnotism and reads the book and finds her hypnotic powers. But when Rocky is adopted by a family in New York, Molly has nobody to be her friend. So Molly sets out on an adventure with Petula, the orphanage pet, an extremely spoiled pug. They arrive in New York, and have a fun time there, including Molly getting a role in a Broadway musical. Meanwhile, Evil Dr. Nockman wants his hands on the hypnotism book. Will Molly ever find Rocky? And will Dr. Nockman get his hands on the hypnotism book? Read this book to find out!

  • The Anybodies by Peter Ferguson (reviewed Dec 20, 2006)

5 Fern Drudger has extremely boring parents. They collect dull things like refrigerator magnets, sponges, and toasters. Fern wants an exciting life, not like her one with the Drudgers. Then one day, a man called the Bone and his son, Howard, appear. There, Fern finds out she and Howard were switched at birth and she really is the Bone's daughter. So the Drudgers and the Bone decide to unswap the kids for the summer, and Fern's life is suddenly extremely exciting, like she always wanted her life to be when she was with the Drudgers. It was a very fun read for me and I always thought the author had a nice pun for a name. This is a wonderful story, and therefore I am giving it a five.

  • The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine (reviewed Dec 19, 2006)

4 There are two princesses of Bamarre, the bold and brave Meryl and the shy and easily scared Addie. The Gray Death haunts the kingdom of Bamarre, killing many of the people. The first stage of it is weakness, and how long this lasts varies. The second stage is sleep, which lasts for 9 days. And then the final stage is fever, which lasts for three days and then the person with the Gray Death is dead. One day, Princess Meryl gets the Gray Death, and Addie must face her fears and go out and get the cure and face enemies like dragons. A very good book with a sort of happy sad ending. I would recommend this to people who like touching adventure stories.

  • Magyk by Angie Sage (reviewed Dec 19, 2006)

5 On the day Septimus Heap, the seventh son of seventh son Silas Heap is born, the midwife proclaims him dead. Silas Heap finds another baby, a girl, who they name Jenna and raise as their own. But then one day, like ten years later or something like that, the Extra Ordinary wizard Marcia Overstrand comes and reveals to Jenna she really is a princess! And there is a boy from the Young Army, Boy 412 or something like that. What will happen to Princess Jenna? And who is Boy 412? Read this exciting magykal book, Magyk, the first book in the Septimus Heap series! I would recommend this book to anyone who likes magical fantasy.

  • Thunder from the Sea by Joan Hiatt Harlow (reviewed Dec 17, 2006)

4 It's 1929 and an orphan named Tom has found a home with the fisherman Enoch and his wife, Fiona. Everybody in Back o' the moon (where they live) is nice to him except Bert Bosworth. All is fine for him and one day he rescues a Newfoundland dog which he names Thunder for the lightning bolt shape on his chest. But one day, when he learns Fiona is pregnant, he wonders with a new baby, will he ever truly belong? And it seems Thunder's owner might be found, and Tom is so close to Thunder already, and doesn't want another dog. Will he lose Thunder? Read this very charming animal tale of friendship and belonging. I'm a cat person, but this is one of the best dog books I've ever read.

  • Dragon Rider by Cornelia Caroline Funke (reviewed Dec 14, 2006)

5 The Humans are Coming! When Rat warns the young dragon Firedrake, he finds out about a safe place where dragons can live in peace called the Rim of Heaven. He and a Brownie, which is a cat-like creature named Sorrel set off on a quest to find the Rim of Heaven. They find a boy named Ben with virtually no life, and he joins them and becomes a Dragon Rider. On their journey, they run into several magical creatures and a very evil so called golden dragon called Nettlebrand that will do anything to get to the Rim of Heaven to kill all the dragons. Will Firedrake, Sorrel, and Ben make it to the Rim of Heaven? And if they do, do they arrive only to be killed by Nettlebrand? Read this book to find out!

  • Captain Underpants - Series by Dav Pilkey (reviewed Dec 13, 2006)

5 These books are extremely funny! This part chapter book part comic book, make the books complete with action, laffs (I know it's spelled laughs just I'm copying from the cover), romance (just kidding), and the extremely cheesy animation technique, Flip-O-Rama! It all starts when George and Harold get in trouble by their mean principal, Mr. Krupp. The boys made a series of comic books starring Captain Underpants, a superhero who wears only underwear. But when the boys get a 3-D hypno ring, they use it on Mr. Krupp, and they hypnotize him to become Captain Underpants. Whenever someone snaps, he turns into Captain Underpants, but if they pour water on his head, he turns back into Mr. Krupp. Follow George and Harold in their adventures with Captain Underpants, and don't forget to laugh!

  • The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau (reviewed Dec 1, 2006)

5 The book starts out with Lina Mayfleet, a school girl in the City of Ember, where schoolchildren are assigned work at twelve years old. It's assignment day, and Lina desperately wants messenger, but she pulls out the horrible job of Pipeworks Laborer, which means she'll be working in damp underground tunnels fixing pipes. However, Doon Harrow pulls out Messenger and he, to Lina's surprise, throws a fit about it. How can anybody not want messenger? But then Doon asks Lina to trade, as Doon wants to be in the Pipeworks, because that's where the generator is. At first, this seems like a boring book, but it gets exciting with the discovery of something, the box with instructions on how to evacuate the city. What will happen to Lina and Doon? Read City of Ember to find out!

  • Leaping Beauty and Other Animal Fairy Tales by Gregory Maguire (reviewed Nov 25, 2006)

5 Are you tired of ordinary fairy tales? Well, then read this book! It is many of the classic fairy tales turned twisted, with the characters replaced with animals, and huge plot changes, and just a pure sense of craziness. What do you get when you put this all together? Leaping Beauty and Other Animal Fairy Tales. These fairy tales are so funny, I got so many good laughs out of them. In Leaping Beauty, Beauty is a frog doomed to be weeping beauty. My favorite one is the three little penguins and the big bad walrus. The smallest penguin is so funny! When their mother just left, after the other 2 penguins saying what they'll make their houses out of, the smallest penguin says he'll make a new dance called collapse of the housing industry, and begins collapsing around! If you are the type for totally funny and crazy books, this book is for you!

  • Dr. Ernest Drake's Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons by Dugald Steer (reviewed Nov 25, 2006)

5 This is a very fun book. Learn everything you need to know about dragons! This book has stuff inside it, like dragon skin and a sample of dragon dust. There are also pop-ups, but this is NOT one of those pop-up books for babies. There is a book of riddles, as dragons love riddles, a guide to the dragon code, dragon development inside a dragon egg, and many sections on how to be a dragonologist or raise dragons. It includes the dragon eye on the back. This is an easy book, but it is a fun one anybody who loves magical fantasy should read. Learn everything you need to know about dragons when you read Dr. Ernest Drake's Dragonology: The Complete Book of Dragons!

  • Harry Potter - Series by J. K. Rowling (reviewed Nov 24, 2006)

5 A series most everybody knows about, but I'll write a review anyways. Okay, so it starts out this boy named Harry Potter lives with his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon and they treat him really badly. One day they start getting letters from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His aunt and uncle ignore the letters, but pretty soon they send Hagrid over to the house and he learns the truth that he is a wizard. Then he goes to Hogwarts and has many adventures. Each book is about one of his seven years in the school. My favorite books are #1 Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone and #3 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Sorcerer's Stone is a good start to the series, and Prisoner of Azkaban, well I don't know, but many people like me think it is one of the best in the series. If you haven't read them (which I doubt, because almost everybody I know has), Read It!

  • The Reptile Room - Series of Unfortunate Events 2 by Lemony Snicket (reviewed Nov 22, 2006)

5 The Baudelaires are free of Count Olaf, or are they? Now, the Baudelaires go to Montgomery Montgomery, or just Uncle Monty's house. He's a Herpetologist, which means he studies snakes. He also found a completely harmless snake, that he calls the Incredibly deadly viper. And recently, his old assistant well um.. quit, so he has a mysterious new assistant named Stephano. What extremes does Count Olaf do to the Baudelaires in this book? Find out in this horrible (as Lemony Snicket calls it) installment in the Series of Unfortunate Events, the 2nd best series ever after Warriors, number 2 of 13! Spoiler alert! If you do not like spoilers do not show theme as I am about to put one right here! Uncle Monty dies, and was killed by Stephano, or Count Olaf.

  • Twilight (Warriors, the New Prophecy #5) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Nov 22, 2006)

5 Another good book in the warriors series! This time, the book focuses on Leafpool and Squirrelflight, as they go through troubles of their own. Leafpool is distracted from her medicine cat duties because of her forbidden love for Crowfeather, a WindClan warrior. Their love is forbidden for two reasons. 1. Crowfeather is in WindClan and Leafpool in ThunderClan, and 2. Medicine cats are forbidden to take a mate and have kits. Meanwhile, Squirrelflight has chosen to love Ashfur instead of Brambleclaw for Brambleclaw trusting his half brother Hawkfrost of RiverClan. And why has WindClan's new leader Onestar suddenly not helping the other clans in horrible times, as he did as a warrior? And and when an unexpected enemy comes, will the ThunderClan be prepared? However, at that moment, all becomes clear to Leafpool and Squirrelflight. Warning: Extremely sad ending as one beloved cat dies.

  • Starlight (Warriors, the New Prophecy #4) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Nov 19, 2006)

5 Before there is peace... The clans have reached their new home, a nice territory with a lake in the middle, and it is time to split up again from one to four. But where will each clan settle? Well, they send out patrols and find the perfect place for a camp for each clan. Leafpaw knows there has to be a replacement Moonstone, as there needs to be somewhere where they can share tongues with StarClan, their warrior ancestors. How will they find it? What about a replacement Fourtrees for gatherings? And what wishes does Tallstar make? Find out in Starlight, one of the best books in the series. Read It! ...blood will spill blood, and the lake will run red.

  • Dawn (Warriors, the New Prophecy #3) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Nov 17, 2006)

5 The questing cats return, only to see the forest being destructed by Twolegs. Leafpaw, Cloudtail, and Brightheart are missing. If the warriors don't get out of the forest, they will die. It's up to the questing cats to save the clans. You'll get dragged along as the journey to the clans' new home starts. This book is exciting once the journey starts, but at one point, it's heartbreaking, because one of everybody's favorite characters goes missing. And how will the clans survive the journey? Read Dawn to find out!

  • Moonrise (Warriors, the New Prophecy #2) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Nov 16, 2006)

5 The questing cats go on! In this book the questing cats run into the Tribe of Rushing Water, a group of cats somewhat like a clan. They have a prophecy that a silver cat will save them from the mountain lion Sharptooth, and thinking Stormfur is him they treat him as the guest of honor. Meanwhile, the forest is being destructed and Leafpaw has the shame of watching it. Will the questing cats get back in time (I admit you find that out in Dawn) and how will ThunderClan survive the destruction? Read about it in the next book in the new prophecy, Moonrise, and find out the latest adventures of Brambleclaw, Tawnypelt, Crowpaw, Feathertail, Stormfur, Leafpaw, and my favorite character Squirrelpaw in this thrilling book! Warning: it may be a good book, but the end is very sad.

  • The Bad Beginning - Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (reviewed Nov 10, 2006)

5 The start of A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Bad Beginning, makes you want to continue this dreadful (as Lemony Snicket calls it) series. The story starts when the Baudelaire children are on Briny Beach, and a man called Mr. Poe gives them news that their parents died in a fire. They go to live with their distant relative, Count Olaf, who is pure evil and wants the fortune the Baudelaire parents left behind. I'd say this isn't as good as some books in the series, but it still is good. You'll like this dreadful (I think it's wonderful in the way of the writing, even though it's so depressing) series.

  • Midnight (Warriors, the New Prophecy #1) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Nov 8, 2006)

5 Darkness, Air, Water, and Sky will come together...
The Warriors series is back, and still going strong! In this book we shift over from Firestar's point of view to Brambleclaw's. (Last time we saw him he was Bramblepaw, Firestar's apprentice.) So one night, while dreaming, he sees the former ThunderClan leader Bluestar. She tells him to meet with three other cats to see what Midnight has to tell them. Brambleclaw is wondering who the others are and how can Midnight tell them anything? All Brambleclaw knows is that the strongest warriors are needed now, as the quest begins
...And shake the forest to its roots.

  • The Darkest Hour (Warriors #6) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Nov 5, 2006)

5 In the Darkest hour, Fireheart, now Firestar, leader of ThunderClan faces ThunderClan's darkest hour. When Fireheart gets his nine lives and name, the ceremony is interrupted by a pile of bones and a river of blood. Bluestar tells him a mysterious prophecy that goes like this:
    "Four will become two.
Lion and tiger will meet in battle,
and blood will rule the forest."
does tiger mean Tigerstar, the notorious leader of ShadowClan? What does lion mean? and is blood this mysterious new BloodClan from Twolegplace? Prophecies will unfold in this last installment in the original warriors series about Firestar and "Fire alone will save our clan."

  • Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl (reviewed Nov 4, 2006)

4 My teacher read this to me in class. It's about a boy named Danny and his father who has a very big secret. He reveals to Danny he likes to go poaching pheasants in Hazel's wood. He sometime wants to rid the wood of all its pheasants before Mr. Hazel's big pheasant shooting season party. So Danny comes up with a method and he becomes the Champion of the world! Or at least his father's world.

  • A Dangerous Path (Warriors #5) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Nov 3, 2006)

5 A Dangerous Path is the fifth book in the greatest series ever, Warriors. Fireheart is deputy, but Tigerclaw, or should I say Tigerstar, is the new leader of ShadowClan. And other than that there are some things that have changed in ThunderClan, such as Fireheart's leader Bluestar has claimed war on StarClan or their warrior ancestors. And there is an even greater problem, as something is roaming around the forest. And in Cinderpelt's dream in a language that wasn't cat she heard the words pack, pack, and kill, kill. What does this all mean? Read A Dangerous Path to find out!

  • Rising Storm (Warriors #4) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Oct 28, 2006)

5 This 4th book in the warriors series is very good. Fireheart, the now ThunderClan deputy, is facing more challenges. His leader Bluestar is acting weirdly. Now that Tigerclaw was sent into exile she is shocked. And Fireheart's apprentice, Cloudpaw, refuses to follow the warrior code. And now that Graystripe is in RiverClan, Fireheart doesn't have that many real friends left. And it's the hot hot greenleaf (also known as summer) and every cat braces for the coming storm. Be sure to read this Warriors book

  • Forest of Secrets (Warriors #3) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Oct 27, 2006)

5 The third book in the Warriors series, Forest of Secrets is like all the other warriors books. This book is AWESOME! In this book, Fireheart has many secrets to keep, including one of his leader Bluestar's. It is also very sad, as one beloved RiverClan cat dies in this book And at the end of the book, something special happens to Fireheart. And one cat leaves the clan.

  • Fire and Ice (Warriors #2) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Oct 27, 2006)

5 This is the second book in the warriors series. Fireheart is a ThunderClan warrior now, but his enemy Tigerclaw is deputy. In this book, Fireheart faces betrayal from his clan for going by twolegplace, to see his kittypet sister Princess. Graystripe falls in love with Silverstream, a RiverClan she-cat. And in the end they have to have a battle with RiverClan! This book, like all the other warriors books is awesome!

  • Into the Wild (Warriors #1) by Erin Hunter (reviewed Oct 27, 2006)

5 This is the first book in the Warriors series. It is about an ordinary housecat called Rusty who dreams of roaming wild in the forest. One day he walks into the forest and meets a group of cats called ThunderClan. They offer Rusty a spot in the clan and he joins. Soon he earns his apprentice name of Firepaw. This book is all about Firepaw's time as an apprentice.
